Comment Contest Tuesday

Our Halloween bucket of candy is ready to go for our trick-or-treaters on Monday.

Wow, another Comment Contest Tuesday …

This one couldn’t wait until next week. It would be too late.

With Halloween approaching many of us are buying candy for trick-or-treaters and possibly Pumpkin beer for ourselves. I know I am.

I try to buy the hot candy items kids like, which luckily tends to be stuff I am not a huge fan of. How lucky is that?

Though I do love Sour Patch Kids, which have made it to my Halloween bucket. Apparently kids love Swedish Fish and they were in the bag together.

So what are you buying? Do you have a strategy? Are you buying any of your favorites? Are you purposely not buying your favorites? What are your favorites? What don’t you like?

My absolute favorite candy is Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups with Sour Patch Kids in a close second. Oh and the new peanut butter Snickers totally ROCK! I don’t like candy corn or black licorice. Bleh! (Or Three Musketeers or Milky Way or … I am sure there are more I could list.)

Just a little plug here. Please also think about having non-candy items for some of your trick-or-treaters this year. Curt and I will be hanging this sign on our house and have stuff for kids who can’t have candy. Check out more information on The Trick-or-Treat Project.

OK, here are all the rules for this week’s Comment Contest Tuesday. You can comment as much as you want. Each comment in its own post will get your name thrown into the random drawing twice.

To participate in Comment Contest Tuesday you must submit your answers in the comments below. The comment has to be relevant to what I am asking. Comments via e-mail, Facebook, Twitter, etc. don’t count.

You have until Monday, Oct. 31 at noon my time to comment as many times as you would like.

My favorite is Snickers and I haven’t bought any yet… on purpose. I’ll hit up the store on Monday. We don’t usually have many trick or treaters so hopefully I can get by with whatever’s left.

I like that sign and I’m going to print a copy and have some “alternative” treats on hand. Hopefully they will have some stickers and temporary tattoos at our local craft shop. I don’t think they need to be Halloween themed, do you?

Okay.. I have had to learn to outsmart myself! Every year I would buy mini chocolate bars that I LOVE and end up eating one or two bags before Halloween even came…. so… now I only buy candy that I will not eat… but kids still like! Like lollypops, sour straws, and fruit flavored things… that’s the only way I can keep myself from eating literally bags and bags of candy prior to Halloween even coming!!!

I hate to admit to this….I love candy corn…I’m one of the few left out there. Chocolate is always nice, but after working in chocolate, I’ve given up on it. I probably will sneak in a bag or two of the things I love, after Halloween. We all have to love the after holiday discounts. 🙂

I used to buy the gigantic costco size bags of mixed chocolate to give out, but realized I live too far up a hill for kids to trick or treat. Now I’ve resorted to not buying anything.

I remember as a kid, I didn’t like going to the houses that passed out random things. One family would pass out packages like “sleeping powder”, “itching powder”, etc. I have to give them props. It was probably the most awesomest thing I ever got in my pumpkin.

    Now I want candy…..

I buy the snack size candy –Snickers, Reese’s Peanut Butter cups, Three Musketeers– and Tootsie Roll Pops. However it’s dangerous to leave that candy near me so I have to put it on the top shelf in the cupboard and behind things so it’s out of sight and out of easy reach until the Trick or Treaters are at the door.

We just recently moved and our neighbors told us that we actually don’t get any trick-or-treaters. All the kids go to the “big houses” several blocks away so I actually haven’t bought any. My boyfriend on the other hand has been buying all the candy. Not really for the kids for for us! He bought online 5 boxes of some apple caramel lollipops not realizing there are 48 in each box! The other day he went to Target to buy a few items for the house and ended up with 3 bags of candy! 2 bags of Snickers and 1 bag of Kit Kats.

My fav Halloween candies are the mini Snickers, mini M&M’s, mini Reece’s Peanut Butter cups, and a few others. The ones I dislike the most are candy corn, Milky Way, 3 Musketeers, and black licorice.

Whether or not we get any trick-or-treaters, we will be prepared.

Forgot to mention, I also bought pumpkin beer. That’s for me, not the trick-or-treaters!

  7. Julie Says:

Grape Nerds. It’s all anybody should give out.
