Comment Contest Tuesday … er, Wednesday

Well, at least we are having green beans with our ham, mashed potatoes, biscuits and pumpkin cheesecake. Photo provided by:

I am reviewing our menu for Thanksgiving and it seems that the only healthy item on the menu is green beans and probably the chicken breast or turkey breast being made and brought by our friends Jim and Jennifer.

There will be ham, biscuits and stuffing, well, I am going to attempt to make my dad’s stuffing recipe. Keep your fingers crossed for success.

Jim and Jennifer are bringing the poultry, mashed potatoes, pumpkin cheesecake and an appetizer. Our friend David is bringing wine, because according to him we don’t want to eat anything he cooks.

I decided to make this post a special Comment Contest Tuesday on a Wednesday. You can comment from today until tomorrow (Thanksgiving) at noon (my time). Tell me what you are making or eating or not eating. Is anything healthy?

Comment as much as you like. Each individual comment posted will have your name thrown in the drawing twice. So comment away. Same rules as always, comments only in the comments will count. No comments on Facebook, Twitter, e-mail, etc. will count.

for appetizers we are having cheese, smoked oysters, and crackers. for the main meal we are having honey baked turkey breast, stuffing, cheesey potatoes, mashed potatoes, gravy, and zucchini. can’t forget the red wine! for dessert it will be cranberry apple crunch pie with whipped cream. the only healthy items are the zucchini and maybe the turkey breast. the fruit in the pie would be healthy if it were not for the sugar and other stuff in it.

overall thanksgiving almost seems like a day to eat, rest, hangout, watch football, and eat AGAIN!

    happy thanksgiving!

forgot to mention for thanksgiving breakfast/brunch i will be serving bagels with cream cheese, smoked salmon, and capers. plus coffee!

so thinking breakfast will be semi-healthy since the cream cheese is 25% less fat!

Im at my folks’ for thanksgiving and cooking nothing. The holiday snuck up on me and I’m I’ll prepared. My mom has turkey and potatoes and pie, and I’m sure there will be tons more!

I’m in charge of potatoes, so I’m making a whole huge mess of regular mashed (there will be about 15 people), plus a smaller amount of poblano mashed potatoes, which I’ve never done before. Very excited about roasting my first peppers!

Also going to make an easy cranberry dish.

My brother is in charge of the deep-fried Cajun turkey, and his mother-in-law makes great stuffing.

Oh, and I think ALL of us are bringing alcohol.
