My friend Jen mentioned on Facebook yesterday that her lower back was bothering her after a ski outing. I recommended trying supported Bridge pose with a block.
I have recurring low back pain. Probably due to over use, kyphosis and bad posture.
So before every yoga class I do supported Bridge with a block. It is amazing how just a few minutes in this pose makes my back feel so much better.
I was pretty busy today. So when I got to my morning Vinyasa class my back was throbbing. So for about 10 minutes before class started I put myself into supported Bridge pose.
Near the end of class we practice Wheel pose. I skipped it and just did supported Bridge. Oh man, I was in heaven and was melting into it. After that we did savasana. I was ready for a nap when I got home. But there was too much to do.

For my birthday my in-laws gave me an REI gift card. I plan to use it toward a new yoga mat.I think Curt and I are going to go shopping this weekend.
I also got some cash from Grandma so that will go toward the yoga mat or a yoga block/brick. (Before each yoga class I take a little time for me. My back has been bothering me lately. So I do a supported bridge pose before each class starts.)
My Dad and Hilda got me a subscription to Yoga Journal. I am looking forward to start getting the magazine.
I also got a Nordstrom gift card from my Mom. I am debating if I should use it toward my health and wellness or just something super cute and super fun: like some awesome boots.
When I went on to the Nordstrom web site and searched “exercise” I found some good stuff and this. What the hell? Maybe if I was a wife on The Sopranos.
I have back pain. I have for years. When I was in my early 20s I went to the doctor because of my bad posture and almost constant aching pain in my lower back.
My doctor sent me to an orthopedic surgeon who told me that I have a mild form of kyphosis. The simple way to explain: I have slight scoliosis.
I went to physical therapy and most of my back pain has disappeared. I still have it at times. But nowhere near as painful as it was more than 10 years ago.
The past week or two my middle to upper back has been sore. But not really back pain. More like sore muscles. Maybe because I am trying to do more weights and abs? Not really sure.
