Dates are sweet, great alternative to candy

It has been about 13 days since I had a piece of candy.

This quitting candy for 39 days has been a lot easier than I thought it would be.

And I have to say that the candy bowl, which sits on my desk, has really not been that alluring. I look at it and I know I can’t have it and I am OK with that.

Last week when I checked with Jessica she said quitting candy for Lent has been easy so far as well.

Though we both have noticed that we seem to have the munchies more lately and we wonder if it is because we have cut out a decent amount of sweets.

(I seriously don’t know how someone could cut out all sweets, even if the item is made with Splenda or some other sweetner.)

The other day I wanted something sweet. So I had a few dates. Dates are good and sweet with some fiber as well.

Entering the no candy zone

It has been about 72 hours since I have had a piece of candy. If I had to choose between something sweet or something salty I would go for the salt.

But there are times I just can’t stop eating chocolate, especially if that chocolate has some peanut butter mixed in.

Another co-worker brought in a HUGE bag of Easter candy for the bowl–almost 4 pounds worth of chocolately goodness.

I had about four pieces of chocolate on Wednesday. On Wednesday evening I was thinking and decided to join my friend in the not eating candy challenge. I am a non-practicing Catholic. I don’t observe Lent.

But I decided to take on the challenge of no candy for 39 days (since I started a day late).

This way we both have support in our challenge. I think we can do it. The challenge isn’t as difficult for me at home as it is as work. My work candy bowl is overflowing … Continue reading

Stress eating

Today was a stressful day on a few levels.

As I stated yesterday I am not hitting the gym this week in the hopes I take it easy I feel better quicker. But that also means I have to be much more careful in the caloric intake department.

Things were going well until this afternoon. Even my visit to Starbucks was decent with a light Caramel Frappuccino. But after that I just needed to much. And at one point I even attacked my candy bowl.

OK, well, that stuff happens and I am not gonna beat myself up over it. The first slip-up since I started counting points again. I think I am in Week 4 of tracking food.
