Lazy days are just what I needed

I had lots of plans for this long weekend. I actually took Friday off to give myself a four-day weekend.

I got many things checked off my to do list, but not as many items got checked off as I would have liked.

Maybe my list was unrealistic.

Or maybe I just did what I needed to do to take care of me. Most items on the list weren’t critical to be done this weekend. And the higher priority items were taken care of.

My life is very busy and pretty routine and each day has some sort of purpose and plan (not necessarily all day, but usually parts of it).

Sundays I usually get up in the morning and hit the grocery and then a Vinyasa Yoga class. Yesterday I got up and I just felt tired and out of sorts.

So I decided to take care of me and just take it easy. I vegged in front of the TV and napped.

Eventually I had to hit the grocery for our cook out with our neighbors. It took all the energy I could muster to just get myself.

Curt and I had tickets for an A’s game today. … Continue reading

Back to life, back to reality

Today our vacation ends …

Well, we still have a few more days off. But today we take off and drive back home to the Bay Area.

I have had a great time visiting family and friends. But frankly, I am looking forward to getting back into my routine … my healthy routine.

Our one day stay in Phoenix and our stay in Tucson I did well with the exercise. (I had already given up in the healthy food department.) I believe I got to the gym four days in a row. I even exercised on Christmas morning.

Once we hit San Diego I got super lazy. It doesn’t help that our hotel doesn’t have a gym. But I did bring my travel yoga mat, which never came out of the bag.

If I were a runner I could have taken off down the boardwalk with all the other runners and gotten my cardio in.

But I am not a runner and really have no desire to become one. I already tried it and it just didn’t work out. It doesn’t help that I absolutely hate running.

The longer I maintain a healthier lifestyle the harder it is for me … Continue reading

If only I were a runner

My intention today was to get up this morning and head to the gym. I woke up about 7:15, which is rather late for me. (The gym didn’t open until 8 a.m. today.)  I still felt tired and went into the spare room and turned on the TV to Lifetime Movie Network. At some point I dozed off for a bit. I toyed with idea of still going to the gym or working out from home. Eventually neither sounded great and laziness won the battle.

Today is the kind of day where I wish I was a runner. It would be so easy to throw on some exercise clothes, grab my iPhone and take off running. But I hate to run and I pretty much suck at running. I think I would last about 2 minutes before I needed to take a break. I know a lot of people who run and tell me if I can do crazy spin I can run. Well, not true. Running would be great because it is easy cardio you can do anywhere.

I was successful at getting the stank out of my yoga mat. I decided to throw it in the washer … Continue reading

How I started 2010

My goal was to hit the gym this morning.

Uh, didn’t happen. Mostly because I didn’t sleep well and a champagne headache doesn’t help. Being lazy was a good excuse.

So instead today I stayed in my jammies and watched Lifetime movies and SVU marathon and read.

Starting on Monday I am detoxing and going back to my healthier lifestyle. I have some challenges ahead of me. But I have some plans to help me through it.

Stay tuned for my updates. Also check back on Tuesday, another Comment Contest Tuesday is coming up. Don’t miss it.
