With an REI gift card I recently purchased a yoga mat bag, a special yoga/sweat towel and some new socks.
After all of these years of exercising and spinning and I hadn’t given much thought to the socks I wore. I have fun little shorty socks. But they don’t give much cushion, support or protection.
And sometimes they rub or not protect my feet so well and I end up with a slight blister or sore spot.
Almost two years ago I bought some adidas socks while at an adidas store in the city. They are decent socks.
But I wanted to look into buying some better socks. The cycle socks are pretty expensive. I looked at the running socks and they were a little more reasonable. I got a couple of REI brand pairs and two pairs of Wigwam socks.
I LOVE the Wigwam socks. They are cushioned and feel so good, whether I am spinning, walking or even just wearing my Chuck Taylors. I will definitely be buying more of these socks. Two pair are so worth the 18 bucks.
Feet are such an important part of our bodies. And we abuse them so much. I … Continue reading
Years ago I went to a store that specifically sold athletic shoes. The woman who helped me measured my foot and asked me what I mostly needed them for. Was I a walker, runner, what kind of exercise did I do?
From what I told her she came up with an athletic shoe that was right for me. These are the Asics she recommended for me.
I also have a pair of clip shoes I wear, which I purchased at REI. Mine are blue. I love wearing clip shoes while spinning. Before I had clip shoes my feet would fall asleep and I would get foot cramps almost every class. Now I just get the sleeping foot and foot cramp only once in awhile.
And I have the barefeet for yoga. No measuring or purchasing required. (Just maybe a pedi now and then.)
I recently bought a new pair of tennis shoes. I am sorry and sad to say I didn’t do any research. And they didn’t have the same style I bought previously. I just went to the store and got a recommendation from the kid selling them. The shoes I got are Asics. I really like … Continue reading
The theme for this week … is feet!
I personally think feet are one of the ugliest parts of our bodies. I would say I have a foot unfettish. My feet are super ticklish. So I hate having them touched.
Probably about six years ago I decided to treat myself to a mani/pedi. I had never had a pedicure before.
I am now a regular of both the mani and the pedi. But I still go nuts when they do the foot scrubbie thing. Eeek.
I have a point here …
So many of us abuse our feet. We wear bad, unsafe, uncomfortable shoes. We stand for too long with bad or good shoes. We don’t wear the right shoes when we exercise. We don’t realize the care we really need to give our feet, which I think includes pedicures and massages.
Our feet have so many pressures points that link to other parts of the body. It is truly amazing how much our feet can affect our health and wellness.
For my birthday my in-laws gave me an REI gift card. I plan to use it toward a new yoga mat.I think Curt and I are going to go shopping this weekend.
I also got some cash from Grandma so that will go toward the yoga mat or a yoga block/brick. (Before each yoga class I take a little time for me. My back has been bothering me lately. So I do a supported bridge pose before each class starts.)
My Dad and Hilda got me a subscription to Yoga Journal. I am looking forward to start getting the magazine.
I also got a Nordstrom gift card from my Mom. I am debating if I should use it toward my health and wellness or just something super cute and super fun: like some awesome boots.
When I went on to the Nordstrom web site and searched “exercise” I found some good stuff and this. What the hell? Maybe if I was a wife on The Sopranos.
Years ago I was doing a puzzle with my youngest nephew. He was and is awesome at puzzles especially at the age he was, which I think was 4 or 5. He got a difficult piece in an adult puzzle and I kinda sang, Go, Jackson. It’s your birthday. He looked at me and said, no, it’s not. So then he created his own version: It’s my birthday … not really … party anyway.
Yes, there is a point to my post. My birthday is next month. And I want to get a new yoga mat. The one I have is kinda cheap and frankly, a little slippery, which isn’t so great when in certain poses, like Downward Facing Dog.
With family we don’t exchange Christmas presents as we focus on charity instead. But we still do birthday gifts, especially since it is a “special day.” There are only a few friends I exchange gifts with for birthdays these days.
My mom probably already bought my gift … (and it probably has a cat on it.) 🙂 But for anyone who is actually gonna get me a gift I am asking for REI gift cards, where I plan to purchase … Continue reading
Once again at 3 & 3: 3 yoga, 3 spin classes with a dash of abs/core and body conditioning.
My cycling shoes got more compliments today. Man! Who knew a pair of not that attractive shoes would be so popular? One guy in class asked me where I got my shoes, he was from out of town. I told him REI and he asked me if there was one near by. So I told him how to get to REI.
There were a lot of new people in the abs/core class today. Lot of tough guys. After a half an hour of abs the class switches to body conditioning. All the tough guys left after the pretty tough abs class. That made me laugh. I was glad they left though because one of them was wearing cologne and it was making me sick. I mean, who wears cologne or perfume to the gym? (I have a very high sensitivity to perfumes, colognes, smelly lotions, etc. Probably not quite an allergy. But the smells can cause pretty severe headaches and make me nauseous.)
