Dealing with that pesky time change

Ugh, I seriously hate time change.

Most places in North America will Fall Back tomorrow at 2 a.m. Most areas of the world have already Fallen Back.

You can see the whole schedule here.

My body just doesn’t do well whether we lose an hour or gain an hour.

I wrote about Springing Forward in March.

If I have time tomorrow I would like to take the 6 p.m. Restorative Yoga class. I think that will really help me sleep better tomorrow night. (My schedule is gonna be a little tight tomorrow so I hope to make it to Restorative Yoga–if not, maybe I can practice on my own–take my own tips below.)

Sometimes the Restorative yoga teacher gives us tips if we are having trouble sleeping. A good stretch while lying on your back: Spread your arms and hands and your feet and yours legs and then let go.

My advise to all who need some extra help tomorrow morning:

Handing out Peanut Butter Energy Balls

I made a second batch of Peanut Butter Energy Balls on Friday. I used the ground flaxseed, which the recipe called for, instead of sesame seeds I used last week.

And I have to say, this second batch is much tastier than the first. I also added a little more peanut butter. I actually made two batches this time around: one with chocolate chips and one with raisins.

I think I like the raisin ones better, crazy, I know. But the raisins are smoother than the hard chocolate chips. Curt and I snacked on them over the  weekend. I think I snacked a little more than he did. 🙂

I found the ground flaxseed at Trader Joe’s in the cereal aisle with the various oatmeals.

I took some into work today for my co-workers.

I handed out a a bunch of Peanut Butter Energy Balls to co-workers today. Of everyone I got feedback from, the energy balls got a thumbs up. (And they could possibly be a cure for Spring Forward exhaustion. OK, maybe not. But they could help, just a little.)

Here’s the recipe again, in case you want to try it yourself:

1 cup regular oatmeal
1/2 cup … Continue reading

Gettin’ my shredding done

In my massive de-cluttering project a big part of it is the shredding. Ugh, oh, the shredding.

The shredder I had before was old and tired. And the shredding was very slow going.

So on Thursday night I headed to Office Depot and bought a new shredder. I was willing to pay 100 bucks for a new shredder. I found a “medium duty” shredder, which was originally $100, but on sale for $60. Nice deal.

(By the way, the shredders at Office Depot seem to be on sale until the end of March.)

My new shredder can shred 12 sheets at once and it does so quickly. I did some shredding on Friday. And yesterday, that thing went to town. I finished all the shredding I needed to yesterday. I had planned to shred all weekend and possibly a few more weekends.

It’s a good thing I didn’t have to do any shredding today as I am a complete zombie with the Spring Forward.

When I got back from yoga today I was so tired. I lounged watching some taped TV I needed to catch up on. And then I took a nap. I am still feeling a little zombie-like.

Springing forward

Most places in North America will Spring Forward tomorrow at 2 a.m. (The UK and Europe will follow in a couple of weeks.)

Being from Arizona I never had to do this until I moved to Oregon in 1997. And initially I had no issues with the time change.

It’s different now and has been for some time.

I hate changing time. Yes, it is only one hour. But whether we are Springing Forward or Falling Back it completely messes me up.

If I have time tomorrow I would like to take the 6 p.m. Restorative yoga class. I think that will really help me sleep better tomorrow night.

Sometimes the Restorative yoga teacher gives us tips if we are having trouble sleeping. A good stretch while lying on your back: Spread your arms and hands and your feet and yours legs and then let go.

This is my advice on how to deal with the time change:
