In my mind I am healthy

Yesterday, which was Day 2 of back to healthy living, I realized that I already felt better.

I was only on Day 2 of back to eating healthy and into my regular exercise routine. And it was already making a difference in how I felt.

I think a big part of healthy living is mental as well. And I am not referring to mental health in this case.

More like, if you have the mindset to be healthy and are on that track it makes it easier and you feel better.

This is at least the case for me.

When I am “off plan” or not in my routine I feel yuck. There is guilt involved. Especially if there is no end in sight.

When I was an unhealthy person I didn’t realize how bad I felt until I became a healthy person.

When I am “off plan” I feel myself craving for my routine of my healthy living.

If you think about it, living healthy or not is one of the few things we have total control over.

I decide what I eat and drink. I decide if I exercise or not.

Back to healthy, clean living

Oh man. I feel like I have been writing these posts too often lately.

I have been allowing myself to get out of my routine way too much recently.

Yup, I usually have a good reason or “excuse.”

And we all fall off the wagon and experience life.

And sometimes I give myself permission to get “off plan.”

Today I told myself that I had to get back to my routine, which includes healthy eating and exercise.

Last week I had plenty of excuses to do neither. Such as the BART strike, hectic and busy time at work, which also included staying later than normal.

In a little less than four weeks I am going on a beach vacation, where I plan to pig out and drink a lot.

But I would like to start out the vacation back to my healthy self, enjoy my week and get right back into a healthy living routine.

The BART strike is over (at least for 30 days), work is still busy and hectic. But today I got back to healthy eating.

I stayed at work later than normal tonight, which meant I missed my regular 5:30 p.m. body conditioning class.

Surviving long weekend in Vegas

We got home from Las Vegas today. We flew out on Wednesday night. We had a great time and with our friends Jen and Dave, too.

When I go on vacation or out of town or whatever I usually know that the healthy eating goes out the window.

Sometimes I can keep the outrageous caloric intake to a minimum. Other times the options are limited or I just don’t want to.

This long weekend I didn’t want to. I wanted to eat crap and delicious food and drinks lots of beer and some fuu-fuu drinks as well with a little wine in there, too.

Hanging out at Ellis Island Casino makes it easy to eat and drinks lots with their Dollar Madness Menu: $1 beers (larger beers were a whole 2 bucks); $1 hot dogs and 5 wings for a buck.

And hanging out watching basketball for hours is, of course, better with beer and bar food!

The couple of times hanging out at the pool I was either having beer or yummy fuu-fuu high calorie frozen drinks.

Having dinner and endless wine at Battista’s Hole in the Wall is a must visit every time we go to Vegas. … Continue reading
