For all the crap, sweets, fatty foods I ate and all the beer and wine I drank I have to say the weight gain as a total isn’t bad. I have to lose 5.4 pounds to get back to my goal weight.
Today is Day 1 of eating much healthier. It’s hard. But I am resisting the urge to eat crap.
For breakfast I had coffee and instant oatmeal. For lunch I had salad with spritzer and Zesty-Tomato Thyme soup. For a snack I am having an apple with peanut butter.
So from Sept. 12-28 I was on vacation. From about September 1 to present I have been on vacation from being on plan.
And in that time I only gained two pounds. (I am 5 pounds away from my goal weight.) And I drank A LOT of beer while in Europe. I also did A LOT of walking.
I was determined starting Monday to get back on plan with food and exercise. Monday I went to yoga. And Monday through Wednesday I was pretty on track with food. But the exercise has been lacking. I have been exhausted and don’t think I can handle spin, etc. And today I attacked the candy bowl on my desk.
I am hoping things go better next week. But then next weekend my mom is in town … and there will be some homemade Mexican food going on.
Challenges will always come along. How I take them on is my choice.
While in Europe I pretty much ate and drank whatever I wanted. I do believe when you are on vacation one should enjoy themselves: enjoy the culture. And a lot of that has to do with the food and alcoholic beverages. One good thing about Europe is there is a lot of walking.
But my vacation is over. And it is time to get back on track and that started today.
I woke up nice and early–gotta love that jet lag. I went to yoga and ran a couple of errands. (I took today off from work–will go back tomorrow.)
I also have started eating much better. I soy latte and oatmeal for breakfast; Brussels sprouts and brown rice for lunch. Not sure what’s for dinner yet.
I plan to weigh-in tomorrow and see what kind of damage I did. Though I am not too worried. Whatever … I am now back on track and that is all that matters.
I am in major stress load. Between trying to get things done at work, not having a working computer at work (working on a loaner laptop–two days so far), trying to get things done around the house before we take off for Europe on Saturday and the fact that my boss has a new boss starting (we thought Monday), now tomorrow afternoon …
Spin was a really hard class. But I really tried to put my all in it. Even though I was thinking about all the stuff I had to do this evening, tomorrow, Saturday, etc. I had no where to go for an hour and focused on me and working hard.
I feel a little better. I am actually rather hungry and a little tired.
I have been trying to keep up with my workouts even though this week has been rather busy and stressful. Walk at Muir Woods on Monday, spin Tuesday (though that class I started to feel bad–like I was gonna throw up and pass out. weeeee, fun!), yoga Wednesday, spin tonight. I hope for one more yoga and one more spin class before I head out. But we’ll see.
Anyway, the Go Fit Girl! … Continue reading
So when I was first losing weight, the last 10 pounds were the hardest.
Since trying to get back to my goal weight I didn’t even have 10 pounds to lose, more like 8-9. These last 3-4 are barely moving on the scale for me. I was hoping to be at my goal weight by the time we take off for vacation. I am starting to realize that may not happen.
My grandpa was in town this past weekend. And my in-laws will be in town this coming weekend. And then Curt and I take off for Europe.
Even though I will be doing a lot of walking in Europe the food isn’t exactly Weight Watchers friendly or healthy eating friendly. (Neither is the beer for that matter. I wonder how many points 2 litres of beer and half a chicken are? Hint: I really don’t want to know.)
But I am not giving up. I still want to be diligent before my vacation. And once I come back.
But also as of last week my workout schedule was altered and it pretty much will be until the end of September. So that will make it tough, too. I guess … Continue reading
For most of this month I have been pretty on track when it comes to what I am eating and how often I am going to the gym. I am proud to say that lately I have been hitting my target of going to the gym six times a week.
Not even just this week … but the next month or so will bring some challenges: Family visiting two weekends in a row and then Curt and I taking off for Europe for two weeks. Lots of eating out and work will be a little more demanding trying to tie up loose ends before I take off.
This week is gonna alter some of my healthy routine. Tomorrow and Tuesday I have training in the city. So no gym and it means I will be eating lunch “out.” I will do my best in the food department. No gym for two days isn’t that big of a deal. I have my mini stepper I can do at home. I have my dumb bells and elastic band (which I just got at Target today in the dollar section for $2.50). And there are so many exercises you can do with no … Continue reading
For a while now I have known that I needed to lose some weight. Not a lot. I figured about 5 pounds.
This morning I weighed myself on a very reliable scale and was shocked at the number. It is really more like 10 pounds that I need to lose.
A couple of those pounds could be water retention. Over the weekend I didn’t drink enough water, drank more (as in alcohol) than normal and Curt and I had pepperoni pizza last night. The pepperoni was kinda salty.
But still, the lesson here is that I need to get control back over my eating habits. My exercise habits are still pretty good.
I will keep you updated on how I am progressing on getting back to my goal weight.
That was the theme today in my yoga class.
I hadn’t worked out since Wednesday, with work being so busy and then being out of town. So today seemed a little tougher than usual.
Sarah, the regular Mon/Wed a.m. yoga instructor, was back today after being out for about five weeks.
I don’t have very good balance. But it has been getting better. I have gotten much better at tree pose. But today I just sucked at it! Usually I get frustrated with myself when I can’t hold a balancing pose. But today I really didn’t.
Another pose we did was the dancer pose. I was much better with that one.
And the last pose I want to mention is crane. I have actually done this pose fully before–like once. You have to have a really strong core for this pose.
Since Saturday I have been to the gym five times.
When you are traveling a lot, get sick, go on vacation and then come back from vacation and try to catch up and then go to a seminar it is difficult to keep up with the workouts and healthy eating.
But Saturday was the day I decided to get back on a healthier path. I have done pretty well. I splurged a little yesterday with a work lunch celebrating a friend/co-worker’s birthday.
But other than that I have been pretty on track this week.
Stay tuned for continuing updates.
