So for those of you who don’t think yoga is a real workout … I hadn’t worked out in almost 3 weeks because of the cold I had. I went back to yoga yesterday. And I took it easy. I didn’t overly push myself.
Today I am sore! My chest is a little sore and the part where my arm meets my arm pit is sore.
I tried to figure out what muscle that is but the charts online don’t specifically point to it and label. Is there such thing as pectoralis minor?
I took anatomy in college when I thought I wanted to be a nurse but I don’t remember much. (And yes, I hate blood and needles so what the hell was I thinking?)
I went to the gym after work last night ready for a hard and sweaty cardio workout. Didn’t happen. Almost all of the machines were taken … again.
So I walked on the treadmill–I hate running. I still felt it and at least I did something. But I had almost talked myself out of going to the gym. I will be happy when the gym is back to normal.
I am going to take the 1 p.m. yoga class today.
My gym hosted one yoga class today. It was a wonderful class.
Ajaia was the teacher. The class was pretty full.
Ajaia even brought a poinsettia and a little candle to make our practice more holiday-like.
So last night I had a glass and a half of wine and it knocked me out before 9:30 p.m.!!!!!!
The night before I had about the same amount and had to fight to stay awake for that movie Premonition–which wasn’t as good as I had hoped.
I have been getting up at 6 a.m. during the week–to either hit yoga at 7:15 or to be at work around 7ish to make up for the time I take off early on Mondays.
Speaking of yoga … we were doing these lunge things today and I felt pretty confident about my posture when my wonderful teacher Sarah said, Nice Ann! She told all of us we had lovely lunges.
I have to say I am definitely getting better and finding some postures much easier. About a month or so ago I was actually able to clear my mind a couple of times during meditation. I was so excited that I started thinking about how I wasn’t thinking. Dang it!

So after about a week and half of not being at the gym I went back today. I did yoga this morning. And my friend Alex joined me. It felt really good to stretch and move again.
Tomorrow the plan is to do a cardio machine. I wanted to do the spin class, but I am going to take it slow. Plus I am still a little congested and coughing. But it is definitely a whole lot better.
I get these e-mails from Beachbody.com. Usually I just delete them. But this one peeked my interest.

My yoga teacher yesterday told me my Warrior II was beautiful.
I have to pat myself on the back for getting up early to go to yoga before work this morning. For some reason I was wide awake about 30 mins. before I had to get up. 5:45 and I am awake. WTH!!?? So right about now I am ready for a nap. Good thing I have my free Starbucks coffee from work.
I also went to kickboxing last night–my third time. I am feeling less and less stupid.
This week I have been a little slacking in the working out. But I am getting back on track.
That is what I felt like during my kickboxing class last night. But I made it. I looked and felt stupid. But it was an amazing workout. The first 3 minutes we had to jump rope. I thought I was going to die. And I wondered how I would get through the whole freakin’ hour. But I did.
We did this punching combo: punch, cross punch, some other punch that I can’t remember the name, uppercut. Then she wanted us to double it. Yah right! I am not that coordinated. So I just punched.
She also had the mitts and would come around and have us hit them. Dork alert for me! And she also had something for us to kick at. Anyway, it was tough and I am sore. But it was an awesome workout–and I will be going back.
This morning I attended the 7:15 yoga class. A little early for me. But it felt good. And now I have already worked out for the day. Woo-hoo!
